Help: the Lynceus3D app
The Lynceus3D app plays our side-by-side 3D videos on XR glasses plugged into an iPhone. The iPhone is the remote.
What you need
- The free Lynceus3D app from the U.S. App Store.
- An iPhone with a USB-C port.
- XR glasses that plug into USB-C and have a 3D (full SBS) mode. We have tested the VITURE Luma Pro and the XREAL One Pro.
- An internet connection. The videos stream, and a fast connection gives the sharpest picture.
Watch in 3D
- Plug your XR glasses into the iPhone.
- Set the glasses to 3D (full SBS) mode.
- Open Lynceus3D and tap a video. It plays in the glasses, and the iPhone keeps the controls.
The controls
- Play All plays every video in order.
- Stop goes back to the start of the video.
- Next skips to the next video.
- At the end sets what happens when a video ends: Stop, Repeat or Play All.
- AirPods and other headphones: one press plays or pauses, two presses skip to the next video.
Your own 3D videos
Tap Play your own 3D video (under the list of videos) and pick a side-by-side video from Files. Put the video in Files first, for example with AirDrop or iCloud Drive.
- Full side-by-side (32:9, such as 3840 x 1080) plays just like our videos.
- Half side-by-side (16:9, such as 1920 x 1080) is stretched to fill each eye.
- An ordinary 2D video is not side-by-side, so it will look stretched.
The app plays the file where it is: nothing is copied, uploaded or saved.
No glasses?
Tap a video to watch it on the iPhone in 2D. Plug in XR glasses to see it in 3D.
If something looks wrong
- The picture looks doubled or squeezed: set the glasses to 3D (full SBS). While they are in 2D, the glasses show a reminder.
- The glasses go dark for a few seconds when you change modes: that's normal. The glasses reconnect, and the app picks the 3D picture on its own.
- The first seconds look soft: the stream starts at a lower quality and sharpens on its own.
- No videos appear: check the internet connection, then pull down on the list to refresh it.
- The video stops when you leave the app: come back to the app and tap Play.
